You can see where a recalled item was used, including how and when it was received, produced, transferred, sold, consumed or returned.

These features are useful in quality control when you need to find out which customers received products with a particular lot number or when you need to find out which lot a defective component came from.

To create an item recall

  1. In the Search box, enter item recall and then choose Item Recalls.

  2. On the Home tab, choose New. The Item Recall window opens.

  3. If a number series has not been defined for item recalls, enter a number in the No. field.

  4. Enter a description in the Description field.

  5. Select the item you want to recall in the Item No. Filter field.

  6. Enter additional information in the remaining Filter fields to narrow the list of items that are returned.

  7.  If you want to create a segment when the item recall is posted, select the Process Segment check box.

  8. Select a value for the Recall Method field. Your options in this field are as follows:

    • Origin -> Usage: Looks at the first item, and sees where it went. For example, the recall lines could show a purchased item, and then where the item was used and then where it was sold.
    • Usage -> Origin: Looks at the last item, and where it came from. For example, the recall lines could show a sold item, the items that it was used in, and where it was purchased from.

  9. On the Home tab, in the Process group, choose Recall. The items matching the filter values are returned.
Note: If additional transaction history under an item recall line has already been recalled by another line above it, then the Duplicate check box is selected.

  10. On the Home tab, in the Process group, choose Release. The Status field is changed to Released.
The item recall can no longer be modified unless it is reopened.

  11. Once the recall has been performed, you can post the recall to indicate that it is completed.

    1. If desired, change the date in the Posting Date field.
    2. On the Home tab, in the Process group, choose Post.
    3. In order to post a recall, the recall must have at least one line.
Posted item recalls can be viewed from the Posted Item Recalls window.
If the Process Segment check box was selected, then the generated segment can be accessed from the Segments window.
If the ITEM_RECALL event notification has been set up, then emails will be sent to the designated users notifying them that a recall was posted.
