To correct an erroneous sales entry, enter two lines in an item journal. Enter the quantity as a negative number on the line with the incorrect code and enter the quantity as a positive number on the line with the correct code.
To correct a dimension value code on an item ledger entry for sales
In the Search box, enter Item Journal, and then choose the related link.
On the first entry line, enter an exact copy of the erroneous sales entry.
In the Entry Type field, make sure to select Sale, and then enter the quantity as a negative number. For more information about a specific field, select the field, and then press F1.
On the Home tab, in the Process group, choose Dimensions.
Fill in the Dimension Code field and the Dimension Value Code field with the same incorrect dimension values as in the original erroneous entry.
On the second entry line, enter the correct sales entry with the correct dimension and dimension value. The quantity must be a positive number.
On the Home tab, choose Post to post the journal.
